Biography/Artist Statement

I was fortunate to be born into a creative family. My mother and aunt were amazing artists, my father was an avid amateur photographer and talented actor in silent films, and my sister is an excellent writer.

When I was ten, my parents sent me to Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles for a summer program. I remember loving the smell of the linseed oil while painting with oil paints. When I returned to school in the fall, the teachers always remarked to my parents that my grades would be much improved if I would stop drawing and doodling on my papers. But, I could not help myself! My interest kept changing over the years. I went through a crafty period and was accepted into the Westwood Art Show. Next, photography was my focus, and I spent hours in the dark room creating black and white photos with many shades of gray.

Fast forward to five years ago when I rediscovered the joy of painting. Acrylic paints are so diverse. My mind conjures up so many new ides to try. Sometimes I feel like a “mad scientist”, mixing different mediums with the paint to see how they react with each other.

Every painting is an experiment. Every painting is a new discovery. I have found my passion, one that I will never tire of! Hopefully, my paintings will bring you a smile and take you to a happy place in your imagination.
