Laura is a modernist-influenced abstract painter based in Palm Desert, California. After moving to the desert from the Midwest, she describes the experience as stepping from a black-and-white movie to technicolor. This transformation inspired her to start painting. Deeply influenced by all things mid-century modern—design, architecture, music, and fashion—Laura’s art blends retro-futuristic aesthetics with contemporary abstraction.
Her geometric, hard-edged compositions seek a harmonic balance among color, line, form, and space, reflecting the stillness she feels in meditation. Laura hopes her work evokes a sense of optimism in viewers by expressing the exuberance one feels from living in a sun-drenched technicolor landscape.
